Investigation considers that Suleimanov suspected of Budanov's murder has another surname

During investigation it emerged that Magomed Suleimanov arrested for suspicion of murder of colonel Yury Budanov may really be Yusup Temirkhanov. After finding out the suspect's real name representatives of the investigation state that the motive for the murder was Temirkhanov's personal revenge for his relative who perished during combat operations in Chechnya.

At the end of August Presnensky court of Moscow arrested Magomed Suleimanov, native of Chechnya, suspected of murder of ex-colonel Yury Budanov. He is accused according to clause 105 (murder) and clause 222 (illegal storage of arms) of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation. On October, 3, the court acknowledged Suleimanov's arrest lawful.

According to sources close to the operational investigative group of Chief Directorate of Committee of Inquiry in Moscow (CIR), its members could not make clear the motives of the murder until recently. The reason is that the defendant who had figured in the case as Magomed Suleimanov still rejects collaboration with the investigation and without his evidence all the assumptions moved forward concerning the motives of the attempt had still remained just versions.

Among different versions about the motives for Budanov's murder, law enforcement bodies pointed out revenge and provocation. However, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Chechnya reported that no information of Magomed Suleimanov' s criminal past was available.

But on November, 10, the main figurant of the case of murder was identified by a woman Muscovite with whom he registered marriage in the beginning of 2000's. The woman told the investigation that she got married not with Magomed Suleimanov but with Yusup Temirkhanov about which the registry office made the respective record, "Gazeta.ru" reports.

On checking the registry books and in this way obtaining fundamental data concerning Temirkhanov the investigators received information about him from Chechnya through operative channels.

It emerged that during the first Chechen campaign one of Yusup Temirkhanov's close relatives was killed by people in Russian military uniforms. The candidacy of commander of the 160th armored regiment Budanov convicted for murder of a local girl and suspected of a series of similar crimes by Chechen authorities (no criminal case on these facts was initiated) was, in the opinion of investigation, the right one as an object for revenge.

To verify this version, representatives of the investigation have gone to Chechnya and fingerprint identification will be carried out in the shortest possible time.

If the defendant's identity is confirmed the charge of Budanov's murder will be brought once again, "Commersant" reports.

It should be reminded that the defendant's attorneys state that their client was kidnapped and tortured by unknown people wearing the uniforms of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate before passing him over to law enforcement bodies.
