Leader of People's Party of South Ossetia demands to initiate criminal cases against people who beat him

On November 10, Roland Kelekhsaev, the unregistered South-Ossetian presidential candidate and the leader of the oppositional "People's Party", submitted an application to the Prosecutor's Office about his beating.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Roland Kelekhsaev said that on October 3 he was beaten in Tskhinvali by law enforcement officials. Doctors examined him on October 4 and stated his brain concussion.

Now, Mr Kelekhsaev asks to initiate criminal cases against the agents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), who had "beaten and humiliated him morally."

Besides, the oppositionist brought his application about the capture of the "People's Party" to the Supreme Court of South Ossetia. Let us remind you that on the eve of the 2009 parliamentary elections the party split into two; and the second "People's Party" appeared, which passed to the Parliament. Kazimir Pliev became its leader; and the incumbent president Eduard Kokoity addressed his welcoming speech to its congress.

"The complaint on the capture of the party was lodged to the Supreme Court of South Ossetia two years ago; however, it was never considered," said Kelekhsaev.

According to his story, the alternative "People's Party" is lobbying Georgiy Kabisov as the potential president, while Kelekhsaev finds these "actions to be unlawful."
