Festival "Artisterium" in Georgia attracted 74 artists from different countries

Georgia has finalized the annual festival of avant-garde art "Artisterium", which was attended by 74 artists from around the world.

The festival was held from October 31 to November 10 and brought together painters from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Poland, Baltic countries, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine and France.

"The mission of the 'Artisterium' is to set up a platform in the Caucasus, which could bring the local art to the world level," said the artist Iliko Zautashvili, Director of the Association "Artisterium".

"Our platform is the unique in the region, where artists from Armenia and Azerbaijan can communicate. We hope that artists from Northern Caucasus will sooner or later take part in our exhibition. At least Russian artists took part in the first "Artisterium" in 2009, and in the second and the third ones. Only this year, unfortunately, not a single artist from Russia was presented," said Zautashvili.

This year, the festival was held on 12 exhibition platforms of Georgia; the largest exposition was housed by the Tbilisi museum "Karvasla" (Caravanserai), which usually serves as a historical museum.

Let us remind you that on October 22 Georgia hosted a traditional folk holiday "Pirosmanoba", dedicated to the famous Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani (Pirosmanashvili). The participants of the event could traditionally visit the house-museum of the artist and look at his paintings.
