Businessmen in Grozny are asked to cover women's head on billboards with headscarves

According to local residents, several firms in Chechnya have been ordered to cover heads of women on billboards.

According to employees of the hairdressing saloon "Edem" in the city of Grozny, men in uniform of local authorities for security, burst into the hairdressing saloon and demanded to cover heads of two women at advertising.

"They said that advertising with women without headscarves is banned," said the 28-year-old woman-employee of the hairdressing saloon, who preferred to remain anonymous.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that yet in 2007 Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov demanded that women's clothes should comply with Chechen traditions.

"We were frightened and covered them," said the employee of the hairdressing saloon and showed the large crimson advertising at the entrance where light and dark hairs of two women were covered with red Scotch tape, the "Reuters" reports.

At the same time, Spokesman of the Chechen leader denies appearance of any order to change advertising.

"All advertisings in Grozny are at place. We have issued no such orders," said Spokesman and added that it had been intrigues of detractors.

The famous thousand blogger drugoi has loaded to his webpage at the "LiveJournal" the photograph with the advertising of the hairdressing saloon "Edem", showing hairs of two female models covered with Scotch tape, and link to the report of the "Reuters".

The blog provoked a discussion. The users' opinions have differed.

"They have such traditions, and why should they change them?" believes "ilyavaliev", a user of the "LiveJournal".

According to him, "if, in accordance with their religion, a woman wears a headscarf, then a woman on a picture should also wear a headscarf."

"Read the Constitution. We have a secular state, not a religious one. I wonder how they would try to change any poster somewhere in Europe on the grounds of their religion," resents the user "100kotob".

"I see nothing reasonable in this decision of the Chechen Republic's leadership; however, I am equally dissatisfied when girls walk along the streets almost naked," the user with the nickname "priest_nikolay" expressed his opinion.

"Influence of religious views on politics has never led to anything good," believes the user "toshafk".
