Georgian police detains four suspects of beating photographer

The four persons who attacked on October 31 in Kutaisi the photographer Robert Kvlividze (Roberto Kvelini), have been detained by Georgian policemen and identified by the photographer; he himself told about it, adding that he did not know the suspects' names.

He said that on October 31, in central Kutaisi was beaten by four drunken men, because he had organized an exhibition of artistic photographs of his naked girlfriend.

"The exhibition was held within the photo contest 'Ilo' announced by the Kutaisi Mayoralty and caused controversial comments in the media and social networks," writes the blogger of the "Caucasian Knot" who writes under the nickname BERG...man Tbilisi.

"I was walking with my girlfriend; and when we approached a group of four persons, who were obviously under the influence of alcoholic beverages, they began aggressively addressing me: "Is that the woman he had undressed?" Naturally, I answered; and then they started beating me and even went up to my girlfriend," the blogger quotes Roberto Kvelini as saying.

The police station, where the photographer had turned, the Regional Police Department of Imereti and the Georgian MIA gave out no information about the detainees, the "media.ge" reports. The position of the detainees or their representatives is not yet known.

The news about the beating of Kutaisi photographer in Georgia has provoked active debates among bloggers and readers of the "Caucasian Knot".

"I confess, it was a too brave photo session for Kutaisi. After watching it, I thought that they are under threat from plain and clear guys," the user of the "Caucasian Knot" under the nickname Dora Papava has commented.

"I'm convinced that it wouldn't be your pleasure to see your sister or daughter naked in the photos (...); however, beating the photographer, of course, is SHAME!" wrote lolita.

"Lolita, if my daughter is 25, and she raised up by me in such way that she wanted to do it or walk naked, then, what should I correct? It means that I lost my chance… It's too late to wave my fists; but beating the photographer for that - it's just plain stupid and disgrace!" the blogger concludes.
