The Ministry of Interior Affairs reports: assault at Ibrahim Yaganov detected

The case of assault at Ibrahim Yaganov, human rights activist from Kabardino-Balkaria and member of Community Council of North-Caucasian Federal okrug (NCFO), has been cleared, official representative of State Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the okrug Mark Tolchinsky reported.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" informed that Ibrahim Yaganov underwent an assault from unknown persons in the evening of July, 19, in Nalchik. The attackers were equipped with reinforcement rods and an iron tube. Yaganov got brain concussion, open craniocerebral injury and bruises.

Members of Community Council of NCFO expressed their indignation with the fact of assault at Ibrahim Yaganov and called for Head of KBR to take over personal control of the incident. Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary of President of the Russian Federation in NCFO, will also control the process of investigation personally. Five persons, an employee of a safeguard service among them, are figurants of the case of beating up Yaganov.

"The case is detected but investigation is not accomplished and cannot be considered as such until the case is referred to court", Tolchinsky said.

However, he did not report the details of investigation advising to inquire about them in the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Kabardino-Balkaria, RIA "Novosti" reports.

Yaganov himself considers that this assault at him and two previous ones (April, 30, 2010, and December, 5, 2009 - note by the "Caucasian Knot") are links of one and the same chain.

It should be reminded that after the assault non-governmental movement "Khase" issued a statement associating the incident with their leader's activities on preparation of a large-scale conference devoted to the present-day economic, social and legal problems.
