"Anji" footballer nominated to be world's best player

Samuel Eto'o, the forwarder of the Makhachkala "Anji" FC (Dagestan) and the member of the national team of Cameroon, was put into the list of 23 football players competing for the title of the best player in the world on the basis of the year's award. Samuel Eto'o is the only member of the Russian Championship, who entered the list of candidates, the FC's press service told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) together with the magazine "France Football" published the list of candidates for the "Golden Ball", the so-called award to be handed to the best football player of the world by the end of this year.

On December 5, the regular round of voting will be held, on the results of which, only three candidates for the award will remain. The very ceremony "Golden Ball" will be held on January 9, 2012, in Zurich.

On August 10, Samuel Eto'o, the Cameroon forwarder, the most expensive player in the Russian Premier League, has been presented in the capital of Dagestan. 9000 fans and about hundred Russian and foreign journalists came to have a look at the football idol.

On this August 24, Samuel Eto'o, the forwarder of the Cameroon national team and the Milan "Inter", has signed a three-year contract with the "Anji" FC. The amount that was paid by the Makhachkala FC to the "Inter" FC for the transfer of the football player is not disclosed. However, according to some information, the sum amounted to 21 million euros.

Samuel Eto'o has already become one of the most successful players in the "Anji" FC: he has scored 5 goals for the football club.
