Residents of Ingushetia and North Osetia honoured the memory of victims of Osetian-Ingush conflict

Actions of memory of the victims of Osetian-Ingush conflict of 1992 passed off in Ingushetia and North Osetia on October, 30.

Commemorative actions devoted to the events of autumn, 1992, were held in educational institutions of Ingushetia. Topical exhibitions of works by Ingush artists and materials from private archives were opened in the libraries of the republic, Memorial to victims of political repression and the Museum of Local Lore named after T. Malsagov.

Poor families and replaced persons in Ingushetia received sacrificial meat. Public prayers passed off in the mosques of the republic. In all the cultural centers, on the TV and radio entertaining actions and broadcasts were cancelled, official web-site of the Republic of Ingushetia reports.

Actions in memory of the conflict passed off in North Osetia, too. In Vladikavkaz, Head of the republic Teimuraz Mamsurov honoured the victims' memory by laying flowers on the graves of the defenders of the republic. On October, 30, commemoration actions were also held in all the settlements of Prigorodny district where the victims of the armed confrontation are buried, official web-site of North Osetia reports.

The territorial debatable ground between Ingushetia is Prigorodny district where the Ossetian and the Ingush co-reside. Until 1994 the district was part of Ingushetia however later it passed to North Osetia. Residents of Ingushetia repeatedly raised the question of returning the territory and in 1992 the struggle for the territory developed into Osetian-Ingush armed confrontation. In the opinion of political scientists and historians, the conflict is though moderated yet not ultimately solved.
