Armenian police solves murder of editor of newspaper "Menk Merontsov"

The Armenian police has detained suspects of murdering Alvard Abramyan, an editor of the Armenian newspaper "Menk Merontsov" (We are Together with Our People), and her husband Yurik Srabyan.

On September 1, it was reported that a woman's body was found in the Kotaik Region of Armenia. On September 13, the deceased woman was identified as Alvard Abramyan, the editor of the Yerevan newspaper "Menk Merontsov". Later, it was reported that on August 31 the Abramyan's husband also disappeared.

The operational procedures revealed that Alvard Abramyan was engaged in working and financial relationship with Vagarshak Abadjyan, a 58-year-old resident of Yerevan; they faced a disagreement, and the husband of the women intervened in those issues. This was reported by a representative of the Armenian police.

According to the investigators, Yurik Srabyan was killed first. On August 31, Vagarshak Abadjyan, his son Akop and Yurik Srabyan went to the village of Airivan of Gegarkunik Region to clarify the relationship. In the village, father and son Abadjyan beat Yurik Srabyan first, then they strangled him threw the body into a pit and covered it with rocks.

The investigators believe that the suspects got rid of the Srabyan's clothes and shoes to exclude the possibility of the body's identification in case of its discovery. When father and son Abadjyan returned to Yerevan, they fraudulently brought Alvard Abramyan to Kotaik Region, where Vagarshak Abadjyan strangled her.

The investigators revealed that when father and son Abadjyan hid the Srabyan's body and left the body of his wife at the crime scene, they hoped to shift the responsibility for the woman's murder to her husband, the "Panorama.am" reports referring to the representative of the police as saying.

The father and the son Abadjyan were brought to the Kotaik police station and detained on suspicion of murder. The investigation is underway, the IA "Novosti Armenia" reports.
