Residents of Sredneakhtuba District of Volgograd Region accuse officials of land arbitrariness

On October 26, three residents of the Sredneakhtuba District of the Volgograd Region held a picket near the building of the local Prosecutor's Office, protesting against "land arbitrariness", practiced by local authorities.

Let us remind you that on October 25 Valentina Tolstova, a resident of the district, held a solo picket near the building of the district administration.

According to her story, the weather prevented to arrange a more crowded protest action on October 26. "All the people who faced problems with the queue for land allocation were going to attend the rally. Many of them are pensioners. Naturally, the cold weather prevented them from going out," Valentina Tolstova has stressed.

In her opinion, on the following day her sole picket was strengthened by those who also faced problems with obtaining land plots. "People were put on the waiting list to get land plots, but when their turn was near, for some unknown reasons they found themselves again in the end of the list," the woman has noted.

The picketers hanged out posters reading: "Power Sells, Prosecutor Takes Back: Corruption Flourishes Here!", "Land Is Taken away from Citizens! SOS!", and copies of announcements broadly circulated in the area on land for sale, including the land in the territory of the public nursery garden.

The protestors accused local authorities of corruption. "Land plots are allocated through dummy persons to others. The surname of one and the same woman is figuring in the list - nobody knows who she is," Valentina Tolstova said.

The protesters have already appealed for help to the Prosecutor's Office and lodged a complaint demanding to investigate the situation. They hope that the intervention of the supervisory body will affect the system of land allocation, the "V1.ru" reports.

The protesters intend to send a petition to Anatoly Brovko, Governor of the region, demanding to make the procedure of land allocation more transparent and give priority to big families, the "Kasparov.Ru" reports.

The position of the district administration is unknown.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" had reported that Vladimir Parfenenkov, Chairman of the Committee on Municipal Property Management and Land Resources of the Administration of the Sredneakhtuba District, was detained on suspicion of abuse of power at allocation of land plots.
