The Parliament of Karachay-Cherkessia passed a law of limitation of alcohol production sales

During a session of People's Assembly of Karachay-Cherkessia a bill "On enacting limitations in the sphere of sales of alcohol production, beer and drinks manufactured on its basis" was adopted in the second reading.

It should be reminded that the law in draft was worked out upon the initiative of Head of the Republic Rashid Temrezov. The document stipulates limitations in the sphere of retail sales of alcohol production containing over 15 per cent ethanol and the order of specifying territories where retail sales of strong alcohol drinks is prohibited.

According to the bill, retail sales of alcohol production in the territory of the republic are not allowed in child care institutions, all modes of public transport, physical training, health and sports facilities. These drinks are also not sold to underage persons. In public areas and near source of increased danger sales of alcohol production is not allowed, too. The bill also limits sales of alcohol drinks in the territory of KCR in the night time, i.e. from 21:00 till 11:00.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that similar measures were practiced in other regions of the Russian South. In particular, on June, 30, the republican Parliament of South Osetia passed a law partially prohibiting sales of alcohol production from 23:00 till 7:00. Prohibition of retail sales of alcohol drinks from 23:00 till 8:00 has been in force in Volgograd region since March, 2010. Similar measures were taken by Security Council of Stavropol region.

Retail sales of alcohol production containing over 15 per cent ethanol has been limited in Ingushetia since September, 2010. The most strict regulations for the alcohol market were adopted in Chechnya where since 2009 alcohol production is sold only two hours a day, from 8:00 till 10:00 a.m.
