In Chechnya, plastic surgeons operate on 42 children for free

Well-known plastic surgeons from the USA, Germany, Austria, and Moscow made free of charge operations on more than 40 children. The patients were not only from Chechnya, but also from Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Dagestan.

"The famous plastic surgeons, who arrived in late September in our republic within the programme of free assistance to those in need of expensive services of maxillofacial surgery, made 42 operations. They helped children and teenagers aged 2-18 with such congenital disorders like cleft palate, harelip, burns and facial traumas. Their patients were not only Chechen children, but also kids from neighbouring regions, specifically brought by their parents to Grozny," the Ministry of Public Health of Chechnya has reported.

The source from the Ministry has noted that the foreign and Russian specialists took care, first of all, of children from low-income families. Besides, they gave free consultations to more than 150 children suffering from various pathologies.

"Overall, the republic has about 500-600 children who need the services of plastic surgeons; therefore, the campaigns of this sort, when the leading specialists in plastic surgery render the required help free of charge, is very timely and valuable," said the source.

The organizer of the charity action of helping children in need of plastic surgery was the famous Chechen plastic surgeon Hassan Baiev, who runs the "International Committee to Help Children of Chechnya".
