Opposition in Rostov-on-Don held an action in support of the people of Libya

On October, 9, representatives of the "Left Front" movement held a picket of solidarity with the Libyan people in its struggle against NATO. The action was authorized by the Administration of Rostov-on-Don and passed off without any incidents, organizer of the action Vladislav Riazantsev reported.

It should be reminded that during the action its organizers intended to call for the citizens of Russia to "stand up for their interests before the Russian oligarchy and bureaucracy".

On October, 9, the participants of the action numbering 10 or 12 persons raised up a green flag and unfolded posters "Gaddafi instead of the tandem!", "Lavrov, frighten NATO!", "Putin is the same Sarkozy", "Sirt is the motherland of light", "Wall Street is a battle zone, too" and others.

"During the action several foreign students came up to us. They said they were from Libya and knew nothing of the action. They were just passing by, saw the posters and decided to support their people, too. Their Russian was poor and they spoke with an accent but they shook hands with us, evidently as a sign of friendliness. Then they took some posters and stood up beside us", Vladislav Riazantsev, Coordinator of the "Left Front" movement in Rostov region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Oleg Prudnikov, another participant of the action, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the action was mostly an appeal to the Russian people.

"It has been already half a year that Libya was standing firm against imperialist military bloc of NATO. The new victim of unfair and ruthless aggression is sinking in blood but does not surrender. We have gathered to express our solidarity with the Libyan people and call for the citizens of Russia to stand up for their interests before the Russian oligarchy and bureaucracy with the same courage as the Libyan people do", Oleg Prudnilkov declared.

Today the oppositionists will hold one more picket within the framework of a campaign "Forged election outside the law!". The participants of the picket of October, 10, strive for cancellation of parliamentary election which will be held in Russia on December, 4, 2011, considering it illegitimate for a limited number of political movements of Russia will take part in it.
