Pacific state of Tuvalu recognizes independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia

During its visits to South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the delegation of Tuvalu signed joint declaration on establishing diplomatic relations with these two countries.

The visit to South Ossetia took place on September 19. On behalf of South Ossetia, the document was signed by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoity; on behalf of Tuvalu - by Prime Minister Willy Telavi.

After the signing ceremony, Mr Kokoity said that the international recognition of South Ossetia is irreversible, the IA "Res" reports.

The joint statement on establishment of diplomatic relations between Abkhazia and Tuvalu was signed on September 18 in Sukhumi by the Prime Minister of the republic Sergey Shamba and the Prime Minister of Tuvalu Willy Telavi; however, the fact was officially announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Abkhazia on September 23, the "Interfax" report.
