Chechnya solves embezzlement of 113 million roubles of militaries' bonuses

The Chief Military Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation has revealed the embezzlement of 113 million roubles of budget funds allocated to reward soldiers for taking part in counterterrorism operations in the mountainous part of Chechnya.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, with the connivance of the top-ranking command officials and supervisory authorities, financial officials of the force grouping in the mountainous part of the Chechen republic illegally wrote off millions of roubles by falsified judicial decisions.

At the same time, to conceal the crimes the financial officials destroyed accounting and financial records. The examination held by the prosecutor's office revealed that illicit payments amounting to more than 113 million roubles were illegally carried out within 2 years.

The suspects used the stolen money to purchase expensive cars, real estate; they opened major deposits at banks, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The Ministry of Defence will consider the situation of embezzlements in Chechnya. This was reported today by Nikolai Pankov, Deputy Defence Minister, the "Interfax" reports.
