Book of remembrance dedicated to servicemen from Mari El killed in Chechnya

"They Carried Courage Through Youth" is the title of a new book which contains names of all the countrymen who were killed or disappeared without a trace in Chechnya. The book was presented at the public and political center in the town of Yoshkar-Ola.

This is a kind of remembrance book, which is a unique edition presenting biographies of 86 soldiers and officers from the Republic of Mari El who have not returned from Chechnya. The book was published by the republican committee of soldier's mothers with the financial support of Russia's representative office of the Foundation for Civil Liberties. "The entire edition, 250 copies, will be handed in to families of the servicemen perished, as well as to republican schools and libraries," noted Valentina Kozhevnikova, chairperson of the committee.

    The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has begun considering the lawsuit lodged by Murat Khokonov, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), concerning his illegal dismissal. The SC has demanded from KBSU bosses the documents confirming the legality of professor's dismissal.
