Roman Sozarukov, accused of fraud, appointed adviser to Governor of Volgograd Region

According to the order of the head of the Volgograd Region administration, Roman Sozarukov is vested with authority of the adviser on internal and information policy.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that a criminal case was initiated against Roman Sozarukov, the head of the internal and information policy, summarizing the results of the procedural inspection, by the Main Investigatory Department of the Russian Investigatory Committee (IC) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - Part 4 of Article 159 (fraud on large scale) and Article 289 (illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity). On July 8, he was detained.

The pre-trial restriction, which was initially pronounced in the form of custody, has been changed to home arrest. Soon after the indictment, Roman Sozarukov resigned from his post of the deputy head of region's administration, the edition "Volgograd-Times" reports.

On July 22 Anatoly Brovko, Governor of the Volgograd Region, has signed the resolution on the appointment of Roman Sozarukov, who is under investigation, the member by region's electoral committee. In this connection, a political scandal broke out.

On August 18 Roman Sozarukov resigned, the edition "V1" reports.

After that, the Governor issued the resolution on the appointment of Roman Sozarukov the adviser on internal and information policy.

"The appointment of Roman Sozarukov, who is under investigation, the advisor to the governor is nothing else but disregard of the President's instructions and challenge to the law enforcement bodies," the information agency "Vysota 102" (Height 102) quotes Konstantin Glushenko, the local expert, as saying.
