NCFD holds action "Caucasian Donor"

One of the goals of inter-regional youth volunteer campaign "Caucasian Donor", held in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), is to improve the image of the region. This was reported by Temirzhan Baisiev, the member of the Coordination Centre for the Donation of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

According to Diana Oleinik, Chief Expert of the Committee of Youth Policy of Dagestan, the action, which is conducted in the country starting from September 1, was initiated by the representatives of the youth NGOs, students and the Committee of Youth Policy of Dagestan.

On September 15, in the city of Makhachkala, people will have a possibility to donate blood from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the site in front of the public institution "President-Complex" and in the Republican Blood Transfusion Station. "At present, the advertising and information campaign to attract young people to this action is held," said Ms Oleinik.

According to the expert, the event is held to revive mass voluntary blood donation, to attract young people to promote and form a positive attitude with regard to blood donation. It is expected that volunteers from all regions of the North Caucasus will participate in the action, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

"On September 15, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Vladivostok natives of the North Caucasus, who live in those cities, will come to donate blood. The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation recommended the regions to held on this day actions similar to "Caucasian Donor"; the residents of Moscow have already joined the action," stated Temirzhan Baisiev.

In 2010, the action "Caucasian Donor" was actively supported by the Committee for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan and the racers' club "Alania-motorsports" in North Ossetia. At the same time, the Youth Council for development of donation in the North Caucasus was created.

According Temirzhan Baisiev, 300 young people participated in last year's action "Caucasian Donor", and only 120 of them were healthy enough to donate blood. "The action will force young people to pay attention to their health," believes Temirzhan Baisiev.

This time the action will be held under the motto "We are of the same blood!" The activists of the public organization "M-Drive" have written and posted on the Internet a hymn of the action "Caucasian Donor": "We are together, we are of the Russian Federation, we are of the same blood", the website of the President of Kabardino-Balkaria reports.

"We are tired of the negative image of the North Caucasus, and we want to inculcate a positive attitude to the region," the "Kabardino-Balkaria. World and We" quotes Temirzhan Baisiev as saying.
