Armenian soldier killed in Karabakh conflict zone by his colleague

Aik Mkrtchyan, a 19-year-old regular soldier of the Armenian Army, perished as a result of violation of rules for handling weapons by Lendrush Nazlukhanyan, his colleague. This was reported by the press service of Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that the incident occurred this morning during combat duty in the contact line of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.

The criminal case was instituted on this fact under article "violation of rules for handling weapons, which caused death of person by inadvertence," the "News-Armenia" reports.

Let us remind you that this is already the 21st time in 2011 in the Armed Forces of Armenia, when a soldier commits suicide or is killed by his colleague. According to official statistics, in 2010, 43 deaths in peacetime were registered, the "NEWS.am" reports.
