Resident of Katyr-Yurt village detained

Early in the morning of December 26, 2003, Russian servicemen who came in four APCs to the village of Katyr-Yurt, Chechnya's Achkhoy-Martan district, arrested Aslanbek Germikhanov, 1968, and took him away in an unknown direction. During the arrest, the servicemen beat all women and took valuables they found in the houses of Aslanbek and his brother. The ground of Aslanbek's abduction remains unknown. He is married and have three children.

    The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has begun considering the lawsuit lodged by Murat Khokonov, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), concerning his illegal dismissal. The SC has demanded from KBSU bosses the documents confirming the legality of professor's dismissal.
