Journalist of Radio Liberty deported from Azerbaijan

Yafez Khasanov (Akramoglu), a reported of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, was deported from the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR) to Iran.

On August 31, three unidentified men captured him in the NAR, brought to the Iranian border and ordered to return to Baku via Iran.

In this context, the Azerbaijani Service of the Radio Station sent a letter to Elmira Suleimanova, Ombudsperson in Azerbaijan. The President of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Steven Corn has treated the deportation as "criminal."

In the NAR, Yafez Khasanov was collecting materials about Turadj Zeinalov, who was returned to the family dead after a summon for interrogation to the Ministry of National Security of NAR in connection with charges of spying for Iran, the Radio Liberty reports.
