In 2011, 63 persons perished in Moscow and Northern Caucasus from suicide bombers

As a result of 12 self-explosions committed by suicide bombers in 2011 in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and in Moscow, the last three of which were triggered in Grozny on August 30, 63 persons were killed and more than 224 wounded. These are the figures of the "Caucasian Knot", based on the data of own correspondents of the edition and information from open sources.

With account of the data of the Committee of Inquiry of Russia, the "Caucasian Knot" is publishing the updated results of calculations.

On January 24, at the "Domodedovo" Airport in Moscow a terror act killed 38 persons and wounded about 173 more. Inspectors found out that it was committed by a suicide bomber - Magomed Evloev, 20, a resident of the village of Ali-Yurt, Nazran District of Ingushetia. Then, the North-Caucasian militants' leader Dokku Umarov took responsibility for organizing the terror act.

Two self-explosions were committed in Ingushetia – on March 4 and July 12.

In Chechnya, before the three suicide bombings on August 30, there were two more self-explosions committed by four militants (two in each case) at attempts to detain them.

In Dagestan, with account of the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, there were three self-explosions, resulting in 6 casualties and 30 wounded persons.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, there was one self-explosion committed by a suspected militant at a detention attempt, which caused no deaths or injuries among power agents.
