In Georgia, mountain resort Bakuriani ends summer season before time

In Georgia, due to cold weather, some of mountain resorts, in particular, the resort of Bakuriani had to end their summer season.

The information tourism centre of Bakuriani has reported that the number of tourists has decreased dramatically, while new tourists are not coming.

This year, starting from July, the resort was visited by 25,000 persons. The information centre has noted that this figure is not final, because in September they expect more foreign tourists. According to their explanations, foreigners arrive in Bakuriani almost throughout the year.

In contrast to Bakuriani, the information tourist centre of Borjomi argues that, despite weather worsening, the number of tourists has not declined. According to their story, all the hotels are full, same as the leased family hotels and the private sector.

According to the centre, Borjomi was visited by 65-70,000 domestic tourists. The number of foreign ones has tripled, as compared with the last year, and made over 10,000. The season will last till the end of August, while foreigners come to Borjomi also in October, the "Business-Georgia" reports.

In the meantime, Georgia continues building new ski resorts. Thus, another one will be built in the Adzharian Autonomous Republic – on the Mount Goma, at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level. The place is known in Adzharia for its healing and mineral water; its tourist potential makes it possible to launch not only winter but also summer recreation season, the "News-Georgia" reports.
