Kabardino-Balkaria: suspects of attacking Baksan HPP refuse to plead guilty

At the trial held by the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria on the case of explosion at the Baksan Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), the prosecutor has read out the indictment.

Let us remind you that the prisoners' dock on the case of the attack on the Baksan HPP, committed on July 21, 2010, keeps residents of the city of Baksan Timur Shebzukhov, 24, and Murat Shogenov, 26.

On July 21, 2010, a terror act was committed at the Baksan HPP, where criminals killed two security guards and blew up the engine room of the plant. As a result of explosions and a fire that happened afterwards, three generators were damaged. The HPP was disabled for a long time.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that on July 25, 2010, during a special operation in Kabardino-Balkaria, Ruslan Orshokdugov and Rustam Seyunov, who had been also suspected of involvement in the terror act at the Baksan HPP, were killed. On April 29, 2011, in the township of Progress, Stavropol Territory, in the course of a special operation, Aslanbek Khamurzov and Kazbek Tashuev, who had been ealier put on the search list in connection with involvement in the above terror act, were liquidated.

It follows from the indictment that "the defendants had entered the gang called 'Baksan Jamaat', which was guided by religious ideas, in particular, the idea of fighting infidels."

"In the course of the terror act at the Baksan HPP, Timur Shebzukhov, was in the territory of the plant, where he watch for appearance of undesirable persons, while Murat Shogenov was in his car in the park of the village of Atazhukina with a task to pick up the gang members after the terror act," says the indictment.

The defendants said that they refused to plead guilty. The next court session is scheduled for August 25.
