A meeting of protest against “Olympic resettlement” passed off in Sochi

On August, 14, about one hundred people in Sochi gathered for a new meeting of protest against violation of “Olympic law”, i.e. Federal Law No 310. The meeting was held opposite the railway station.

This time representatives of regional branch of the party “Patriots of Russia” arrived to support the residents of Sochi participating in the meeting. Leader of the regional branch Tatiana Arkadieva declared that they intended to support “the residents of Sochi who have suffered from unlawful actions of the authorities during evicting them from their dwellings confiscated under inadequate preconditions”

Organizer of the meeting Irina Brovkina told us that not a single official came to the scene. At the same time, according to her, a new resolution expressing protest against unconstitutional actions of the authorities during confiscation of the dwellings and eviction of the residents was adopted at the action. According to Brovkina, the resolution of the meeting will be delivered to the residence of the President of the Russian Federation in Bocharov Ruchey the way it used to be done before.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that building of new dwelling quarters for persons replaced from the Olympic building sites had entered its final stage. About half of the families agreed with the conditions provided by the state. Resettlement is planned to be accomplished by the beginning of summer and confiscation of the lands itself is going in accordance with the Order of confiscation of lands in connection with the Olympic Games in Sochi sanctioned by President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on August, 3, 2010.
