Refugees in Georgia demand jobs

The refugees who were resettled to the new district named Maltakva in the city of Poti demand to provide jobs for them; otherwise they plan to start protest actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that one of the problems, which hampered resettlement of refugees from Tbilisi to Georgian regions, was inability for many of them to get employed.

"We're here for 15 days already; and nobody has addressed us on employment issues," said Tina Chitanava, a refugee from Sukhumi.

According to her story, most of the refugees had agreed to move to Poti only in case they would be employed there. She said that in Zugdidi she had worked at a restaurant for 15 years and thus maintained her family. Now, once in Poti, most of the newcomers are jobless, like herself. Should the problem be not addressed within a month, they will start protest actions, the "Georgia Online" reports.
