Accused of riots in Manezhnaya Square in Moscow to remain under custody

Today, the Tver Moscow Court announced decision to keep figurants on the case of riots at Manezhnaya Square in last December under custody till January 26, 2012. Dmitry Agranovsky, the lawyer of the defendant Igor Berezyuk, reported about his intention to challenge the court's decision.

Let us remind you that on December 11, 2010, more than five thousand football fans and nationalists started riots in Manezhnaya Square after the demonstration in memory of Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the "Spartak" FC, who was shot to death in a fight at night on December 6, 2010. According to the Moscow authorities, as a result, 32 people were injured.

The prisoners' dock keeps five persons, who, according to the investigators, were the organizers of riots. They are Igor Berezyuk, an activist of the public association "The Other Russia", a participant of the movement "Strategy 31", Kirill Unchuk and Ruslan Khubaev, activists of "The Other Russia", Leonid Panin and Alexander Kozevin.

Today, the preliminary court session on the case was held behind closed doors.
The next court session on the case was appointed for August 18. This session will also be preliminary; however, it is possible the date for consideration on the merits will be appointed at the session.
