In Rostov Region, case on woman-pensioner's death caused by fallen icicle was brought to court

In the city of Novocherkassk of Rostov Region, a 58-year-old chairperson of the housing cooperative society will face the court. The head of the cooperative society is suspected that due to her fault a woman-pensioner was killed by a fallen icicle.

On February 7 the icicle fell on the 50-year-old woman from the roof of the five-storey apartment building. The pensioner died at the scene before the arrival of rescue team and emergency medical service.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the press service of the Investigatory Committee in the Rostov Region that the head of the cooperative society was accused of poor-quality provision of services to remove ice from the roof.

"The investigation revealed that the chairperson of the housing cooperative society failed to conduct necessary sanitary and technical works on the maintenance of the multiple-apartment building and failed to take measures to inspect and clean the roof of the building from ice and snow, to fence locations, constituting a threat to the population," the press service office the Investigatory Committee stated.

The source has added that the investigation gathered sufficient number of evidences, and, in connection with that fact, after confirmation of the indictment the criminal case was brought to the court for consideration on the merits.
