Residents of Zverevo, Rostov region, started an everyday picket demanding revision of the tariffs on HCS

On Thursday, August, 4, residents of the town of Zverevo, Rostov region, started an action within the framework of which they intend to hold everyday pickets demanding revision of the tariffs on housing and communal services (HCS).

Deputy of Zverevo municipal Duma Valery Diakonov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the action would last a month, i.e. till September, 4.
“The reason for the action has been negligence of the citizens’ problems from Governor of Rostov region Vasily Golubev. Ordinary runarounds were received in reply the citizens’ appeals concerning the tariffs on HCS while the problem is very serious. In 2002 the municipal boiler house replaced coal with gas and large-scale demobilization (of workforce) took place in the boiler house. The new fuel is three times cheaper but the tariff on heating was not reduced”, Diakonov says.

According to the participants of the action, over 150 townsmen came to the picket. They were standing under a poster “Shame on the Governor! Gas is cheaper than coal but we pay for heating by the coal tariff. Repay your losses yourselves!”.

Municipal Administration of Zverevo and the Apparat of the Governor of Rostov region have not yet commented on the issue.
