Graduates of business courses in Prigorodny District of North Ossetia received grants to open businesses

The 8th graduation of the course participants of the business centre was held in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. Organizers note that now the residents of the District come to learn doing business consciously.

"Students have changed. Now the people, who want to do business consciously, come," said Yulia Chardina, the manager of the programme of the HRC "Memorial" "Harmonization of interethnic relations in the Prigorodny District by means of small business development".

First place and 40 thousand roubles went to Akhmed Barakhoev, a resident of the village of Kurtat. According to Magomed Matiev, a teacher of the Small Business Assistance Centre, Barakhoev is going to be engaged in manufacturing of construction blocks and paving slabs.

Second place also went to a resident of Kurtat – Djambolat Djioev – for a business project on mushrooms' cultivation. He was granted 30 thousand roubles for the development of his business. Third place went to their countryman Bagaudin Gadaborshev. He intends to be engaged in agriculture and open his own farm, and received 25 thousand roubles for that.

According to Yulia Chardina, during the project "Through Business to Peace" 68 people listened to the courses and 300 jobs were created.

The Small Business Assistance Centre was opened in the village of Kurtat of the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia with the assistance of the HRC "Memorial" on last December 18. The project is stipulated for three years, and teaching in this project is free. Only residents of the Prigorodny District are eligible to learn here. The teachers explain the students how to start up own business, give lectures on economics, marketing and teach computer literacy.

The Prigorodny District of North Ossetia is an area of the former Ingush-Ossetian conflict, where representatives of both nationalities live; and, therefore, it was decided to open a business school here.
