Plievo deputies complain of Evkurov to Russian President

Deputies of the rural settlement of Plievo in Ingushetia sent complaints to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and the European Parliament in connection with "the Ingush leader's intervention in the activities of the municipality".

Earlier, the deputies of the Plievo Local Self-Government Council and Abu-Sultan Pliev, a member of the "Spraveldivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party, who defeated at the election of the head of the settlement his rival from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party, complained of pressure from the republic's administration and possible cancellation of the election results.

The deputies insist that Abu-Sultan Pliev was elected to the post of the settlement head by "direct open vote" in accordance with the current legislation. Despite this, according to the deputies, they are pressed by the republic's leader who demands to cancel their decision.

The appeal, in which the deputies ask to intervene and take measures "against the total lawlessness", was signed by seven persons. They expressed their readiness to resign as deputies in protest should no measures be taken.

"We not just hope, we believe and we are confident that our rights of deputies will be restored, and the law will prevail," said Abu-Sultan Pliev in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ramzan Barakhoev, a deputy of the Local Council, said that no pressure was put upon them; while officials from the administration of the Ingush leader and Nazran District give no comment on the situation.
