In Akhty District of Dagestan, protesters unblocked highway

The highway in the Akhty District of Dagestan, which was blocked by the picketers for more than a day, last night was opened to vehicle traffic. The picketers, who organized the protest action demanding to detain the offender who had killed a man and wounded five other people in a mass brawl, agreed to open the highway for a promise that the head of Dagestan would meet with them.

The "Caucasian Knot" earlier reported that about 300 people blocked the highway in the Akhty District of Dagestan. The protesters demanded to detain the alleged killer and also called for the resignation of Safidin Mursalov, the head of the District.

On July 29 Ali Nurmagomedov, Chief of the Investment Agency of Dagestan, and Eduard Khidirov, the deputy of the Republic's National Assembly arrived on the scene. After continuous talks Eduard Khidirov promised that on August 1, Monday, the Dagestani leader Magomedsalam Magomedov would meet with the representatives of the protestors. After that, about 01:00 a.m., the protesters left the picket venue.

Let us remind you that on July 28 on the outskirts of the village of Akhty about 40 people, 20 people from each side, started a brawl, in which a representative of one of the sides allegedly opened a submachine gun fire. As a result, one person was killed and five were wounded. The gunman fled the scene.
