Ingushetia: resident accused of terrorism sentenced to 17 years in prison

Today, the Moscow City Court sentenced Ruslan Ozniev, a resident of Ingushetia, accused of preparing terror acts in Moscow. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the press service of the Court.

In autumn 2009 the Russian FSB agents detained the 26-year-old Ruslan Ozniev in the Russian capital, who, according to FSB's information, had come to Russia from France by the order of the leader of the armed underground of North Caucasus Dokku Umarov to commit several terror act in Moscow. The investigators revealed that the defendant, being an active participant in the illegal armed formations, together with the field commander of the so-called "Imarat Kavkaz" Hussein Khatsiev was preparing a major terror act in the Russian capital.

Earlier, the General Prosecutor's Office reported that Ruslan Ozniev, while living in France, where he had obtained a status of political refugee, selected places intended for explosions in Moscow by means of the Internet sites.

However, Ozniev's acquaintances say that the young man was intentionally lured from abroad that in such a way the power agencies could improve the reports on their fight against terrorism.
