Abkhazia: presidential candidates sign memorandum on fair elections

The Abkhazian presidential candidates Alexander Ankvab, Raul Khajimba and Sergey Shamba have signed a memo "For Clean and Fair Election". The signing of this document was initiated by the oppositional party "Forum of National Unity of Abkhazia".

Today, public activists and editors-in-chief of state-run and independent media also put their signatures under the memo "For Clean and Fair Election".

By signing the document, every party thereto has undertaken "to act only on the basis of the state interests of the Republic of Abkhazia and its people; to avoid actions capable to disrupt the legitimacy and actual results of the election in the eyes of the people and the world community; to do open and fair electoral work and not to admit any manipulations, distortions and perversions of any information; to be open to any questions from the voters and the journalistic community; and not to use "black technologies".
