Consideration of appeal on case "Kadyrov vs. Orlov" scheduled on August 8

On August 8 the Khamovniki District Court of Moscow will held a court session to consider two appeals on the case of Oleg Orlov, Chairman of the Board of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial".

Let us remind that the criminal case on slandering had been instituted against Oleg Orlov for his remarks about Kadyrov's responsibility for the murder of Natalia Estemirova, an employee of the HRC "Memorial", in July 2009. On June 14 Karina Morozova, Judge of the judicial precinct No. 363 of the Khamovniki Court of Moscow, announced the judgment of acquittal, finding Oleg Orlov, Chairman of the Board of the HRC "Memorial", not guilty.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on 24 June Andrei Krasnenkov, the legal representative of Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, submitted his appeal complaint to the office of Magistrate Court No. 363 of the Khamovniki District of Moscow against the acquittal of Oleg Orlov from the charges of slandering his client.

"The appeal complaint will be considered by Judge Andrei Lutov," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Sergey Kruzhilin, Spokesman of the Khamovniki Court.
