Businessman Murtabekov kidnapped in Dagestan released under the condition of stopping his beer business

Murtabek Murtabekov, head of limited company “Beer-Market”, representative of the company “Efes Beer”, kidnapped on June, 25, in Dagestan was released by the abductors under the condition of stopping his business”, a source in law enforcement bodies of the republic reported.

At 08:20 Moscow time unidentified people drove up to Murtabekov’s house in Naberezhnaya street of Khasavyurt, forced him into the car and took him away in an unknown direction. As one of the main versions of kidnapping the investigation suggested extortion of money.

The businessman returned home on Saturday, July, 2. “He says he was kept in some cellar and released under the condition that he would stop his beer business”, a source in law enforcement bodies of Dagestan said not ruling out that in addition, the businessman promised to collect and pay off a ransom to the abductors.

Investigative Department of the Committee of Inquiry of Russia (ID CIR) in Dagestan confirmed the fact of the businessman’s release. “Investigative actions on the criminal case of kidnapping are going on”, “Interfax” quotes a representative of ID CIR in Dagestan.

It should be noted that explosions and firing at stores and cafés selling alcohol drinks are frequent in Dagestan. In such cases law enforcement bodies suggest as the main version the gunmen’s revenge to the owners of the cafés and stores selling alcohol for their refusal to pay a “buy-out” for dealing with the business which “contradicts Islamic law”.
