Ingushetia: Magas Mayor resignation is planned, source in Evkurov's administration says

In the near future Aslanbek Sagov, Mayor of the city of Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, will resign from his position. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source in the administration of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia, that the resignation has to do with the outcomes of the revision of construction of cottages in Magas. Aslanbek Sagov himself said that he had decided to resign on his own will after Evkurov's criticism of the activity of the Mayoralty of Magas.

On June 7 Evkurov made a walking inspection of the city of Magas. He personally examined the objects and apartment buildings in construction and harshly criticized the work of functionaries and contractors, including Bembulat Darsigov, Chief Architect, and Mayor Aslanbek Sagov. On the same day, the head of the municipal-and-housing service of Magas, who worked in this position for 12 years, was fired.

"Today Yunus-Bek Evkurov has again inspected the construction site of cottages in Magas and decided to dismiss the Mayor," said a source in the administration of the head of Ingushetia and added that the Mayor of Magas had failed to remedy the situation.

"I decided to resign on my will after Evkurov's criticism of the activity of the Mayoralty of Magas," Aslanbek Sagov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"I can say for sure that after inspection of the objects in construction Bembulat Darsigov, Chief Architect of Ingushetia and the Mayor of Magas will be dismissed; however, other officials in charge of building the above objects in the capital were seriously warned and reprimanded," said a senior official in the government of Ingushetia, who preferred to remain anonymous.
