The case of explosions in Volgograd in April referred to court

Investigation of the criminal case against a resident of Astrakhan accused of preparation and committing explosions near the buildings of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the Academy of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Volgograd this April “on the grounds of ideological hate” has been accomplished. 

Two explosions took place on April, 26, in Volgograd: one bomb was activated near the gates of Municipal Department of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the other one near a gym of the Academy of the Ministry of Interior Affairs. There were no victims but the explosions resulted in damages.

On May, 13, police personnel carried out 12 searches and according to a source in power ministries of South Federal Okrug, two members of international organization “Jama'ah” were detained. Four detained persons in Astrakhan region confessed of having committed the explosions in Volgograd.

A thirty-five-year-old native of Kazakhstan currently figures as a defendant on the case. According to the investigation’s version, the defendant planned the explosions together with his friend “in the beginning of April, 2011, on the grounds of ideological hate and hostility towards people who do not profess radical Moslem religion”. It follows from the materials of the criminal case that they purchased all the necessary components in small retail points of sale, web-site of the Committee of Inquiry of Russia reports.

The defendant’s name is not disclosed in the Investigative Department of the Committee of Inquiry of Russia but a source in law enforcement bodies said that it was Mussa Yasulov”, “Commersant” reports.
