Five servicemen perished and twelve got wounded during battles in Kizlyar district of Dagestan

There is confirmed data of five lost and twelve wounded officers of law enforcement bodies as a result of a special operation going on in Kizlyar district of Dagestan, Press service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Dagestan reports.

The first armed confrontation with a group of unidentified persons took place in the morning of June, 21, in a forest massif near the settlement of Kuznetsovka, Kizlyar district. When suggested to surrender the unknown people opened fire at law enforcement officers from self-firers.

During the skirmish two officers of Special Purpose Center (SPC) of Department of State Security Service of Russia died on-site. Three other officers of SPC of DSSS of the Russian Federation, three policemen of Babayurt Department of Interior Affairs and three servicemen were taken to municipal hospital of Kizlyar with gunshot wounds.

It was decided to delay the special operation till morning, however at about two o’clock at night the gunmen made a new attempt to break the cordon and tear away from encirclement. Three servicemen died on-site during the battle and three more got wounded.

There is no official data of killed and wounded among the members of paramilitary groups yet. According to unofficial information, the number of killed supposed gunmen varies from three to five. The special operation in Kizlyar district is currently going on.
