Missing participants of the oppositional meeting in Georgia found in investigative isolation wards

Participants of the "People's Assembly's" meeting of protest who had been considered missing after dispersal of the action on May, 26, were found in investigative isolation wards of Tbilisi, People's Defender of Georgia Georgi Tugushi declared.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia formerly issued a statement that the police had no information about the citizens who disappeared after dispersal of the meeting.

"All those participants of the unauthorized meeting of "People's Assembly" whose disappearance was reported to the Apparat of the People's Defender by their relatives were found", Tugushi announced on the air of "Palitra" TV channel.

He did not specify the number of persons found, "Novosti-Georgia" reports. "All of them were sentenced to different terms of administrative arrest", the human rights activist said.

As for the list of those missing published in the Georgian mass media, Tugushi remarked that the Apparat of the People's Defender failed to find out their relatives' contact information, therefore it was impossible to start search yet, "Georgia Today" reports.

It should be reminded that on May, 30, Georgian mass media published lists of missing people based on the telephone calls from members of their families which had come to the "hotline" organized by the journalists, "GHN" reports.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia declared in May that the difference between the list of those detained published by the Ministry and the one of the Apparat of the People's Defender was conditioned by the fact that the second list included not only the demonstrators detained during dispersal of the action of May, 26, but also the activists who were detained before dispersal of the action and the 24 people detained in Kintsvisi. The list published by the police included data of 105 persons and that of the Apparat of the People's Defender had data of 162 detained.

Non-governmental organization "Association of Young Lawyers of Georgia" also published a list of names of 49 people who disappeared during dispersal of the unauthorized meeting in Tbilisi at night of May, 26.
