Dagestan natives get lost in Tyumen Region

Asiyat (Julia) Babaeva, a resident of the town of Raduzhnoe, Tyumen Region, informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her husband Umalat Babaev, a native of Dagestan, from yesterday did not answer telephone calls; and his whereabouts are unknown. Along with him, Samur Kurbanov, a friend of the family, also disappeared.

"They went to their Friday prayer to Nizhnevartovsk. At 3:30 p.m. Umalat called me and said that in a minute they would leave for home. I asked him to call after they leave; no call arrived; I tried to contact him, but his phone was switched off, which he never did. Samur's phone was also switched off. I addressed all the instances, but everywhere they said that they had no information," said Babaeva.

She has no idea on who was involved in the incident but does not rule out that local law enforcers may have to do with the disappearance. She said that her husband had been summoned several times to the FSB of the Tyumen Region.

"He was told there that he would be called to Moscow for questioning; but they never specified the topic," said Babaeva.

She also reported that the two men were "strictly practicing Muslims"; her husband went to Egypt for training; in November 2010 he was detained in Cairo by Egyptian security forces; for about a month he was in jail, then released without explaining the reason for detention. In 2010, he returned to Russia.
