Anna Donatova's play cancelled at "Rostov Readings" festival

At the playwrights' festival "Rostov Readings" held in Rostov-on-Don on May 25-27, apart from the play "Prebiotics" by Vladimir Golyshev, the play by the playwright Anna Donatova "Cat Is Guilty of My Sexuality" was also forbidden to demonstration. According to the author, it was cancelled at the last minute.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Olga Kalashnikova, one of the organizers of the festival, that the theatre directors had excluded the play "Prebiotics" by Vladimir Golyshev, where Putin and Medvedev figure, from the repertoire of the festival, and questioned the performance of two works by playwright Anna Donatova: "Tudam-Syudam" and "Cat Is Guilty of My Sexuality".

"After all, the 'Cat' was kicked out at the last minute after a phone call from the Ministry of Culture. A few days ago the play had already been banned, but then re-allowed. And here - the stopped it again," said Donatova.

The Youth Theatre did not deny the cancellation of the play; however, they gave no comment on the reasons. The play was read out in the street not far from the theatre.

Earlier, the organizer of the festival had noted that indeed, in her opinion, the play by Donatova was a bit too frank but worthy to be presented at the festival.
