Over 600 applications submitted to Yerevan Festival "Golden Apricot"

The Eighth International Film Festival "Golden Apricot", which will be held on July 10-17 this year, has already received more than 600 entries from 57 countries worldwide.

As noted by Asmik Pogosyan, the Minister of Culture, the "Golden Apricot" is one of those exceptional festivals, which transform and enliven the cultural life of Yerevan.

According to the festival director Arutyun Khachatryan, like in previous years, the contest programme includes feature films produced in the past two years. Also, the international contest programme of documentaries; while the contest programme "Panorama" will include best films of Armenian and foreign film directors.

Mr Khachatryan noted that this year's festival will hold a new contest programme. "We'll hold a contest of short fiction films named 'Koriz' (Kernel)," the edition named "Celebrities" quotes the festival director.

In spite of the fact that the cinema "Nairi" - the main venue in Yerevan to screen festival films - is closed now, the organizers expect it to reopen, the "News.am" reports.
