Social services of Kabardino-Balkaria make lists of those who suffered from introduction of CTO regime

The social services of the Elbrus District, Kabardino-Balkaria, are compiling lists of residents affected by the introduction of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Mussa Dzhappuev, deputy head of the administration of Elbrus settlement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that needy residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, who had suffered losses from the ban on entry of tourists during the CTO, will receive lump sum financial help to be able to pay their outstanding utility bills.

"The amount of compensation is still unknown, but any help would be just in time," said Dzhappuev.

"The district is in disrepair. Let people get at least some compensation, so that they could solve their immediate problems, as local residents lost their earnings due to absence of tourists," said the head of the administration.

A source from the district administration said that it is not clear who would be included into the list of victims.

"According to some sources, the help will cover only employees of state-owned hotels. Most of those who traded their self-made woollen products were not registered as individual entrepreneurs; and in this regard we do not know whether they will be compensated," he said.

The source noted that all the people suffered from the CTO regime - even wholesale outlets of the city of Tyrnyauz which, according to his story, "cut their deliveries by seven times."

Let us remind you that on April 25 Prime Minister of Kabardino-Balkaria Ivan Gerter said at the first working session after his appointment to this position that the residents of the Elbrus District, who suffered from absence of tourists, will receive compensations.

Mr Gerter added that the point is not about entrepreneurs, but about ordinary citizens, whom tourism helped to earn their daily bread.
