An action "Victory Mail" is going on in Rostov-on-Don

Young journalists, members of the Independent community of journalists ("NOZH") organized an action "Victory Mail" in Rostov-on-Don, representative of the community Karina Kravchuk told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The community was organized in 2008. "Victory Mail" is one of its first actions. "Once an issue of "Krasnaya Zvezda" ("Red Star") dated May, 10, 1945, by chance appeared in our disposal, - Kravchuk said, - and we thought the veterans would be very pleased to get the newspaper on Victory Day. Last year we failed to present this newly published paper to the veterans in several districts of Rostov-on-Don, that is why the action was continued in 2011".

According to our interlocutor, young journalists and volunteers, students and senior pupils, are taking part in the action. The organizers of the action are planning to deliver about 750 copies of "Victory Mail" newspaper to the veterans.

Kravchuk says that the action can be already called not only an All-Russian (for similar actions are going on in other cities and towns) but an international one because "Victory Mail" is already working in South Osetia and Abkhazia.

Marina Kovyneva, Manager of the Department of Youth Policy of Don State Technical University, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that among the volunteers distributing "Victory Mail" there were foreign students who liked it very much. According to Kovyneva, 70 copies of the paper have already been delivered.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on April, 25, Rostov regional department of state patriotic club of "United Russia" with the participation of "Compatriots" fund and Rostov branch of the organization "Journalists of Russia" carried out an international action "Victory Ribbon for the peoples who defeated fascism" timed to the 66th anniversary of Victory.

At a solemn ceremony representatives of youth organizations of CIS who arrived in Rostov were handed 7,5 meters of St. George ribbons each. These ribbons will be distributed among residents of Moldova and Ukraine during the days of celebration of the 66th Victory anniversary.
