In Armenia, Association of Political Sciences asks to pardon political prisoners

The Association of Political Sciences of Armenia (APSA) has addressed President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan asking to pardon political prisoners convicted on the case of March 1, 2008. According to the authors of the petition, this step will facilitate the internal political dialogue and strengthen the internal security of the country.

Let us remind you that release of political prisoners was the main demand upon fulfilment of which the non-parliamentary opposition of the country is ready to start dialogue with the authorities.

The authors of the statement note that "granting of amnesty may be the basis for unification of all progressive and patriotic forces of Armenia and all Armenians, with use of their strongest features in the name of constructive political cooperation, directed to promotion of systemic democratic reforms in Armenia," says the statement, which is quoted by the "Armenia Today".
