Georgian-Russian talks on Russia's accession to WTO to continue in late May

The third round of talks between the delegations of Georgia and Russia on Russian Federation's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) is scheduled on late May. The agreement was reached after the second round of talks held on April 28-29 in Geneva.

The Georgian party moves the conditions of admission of its customs officers to checkpoint in South Ossetia and Abkhazia and lifting the embargo on the number of Georgian goods, such as wine. The Russian party objects saying that this issue should be discussed with the authorities of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The latter, however, are categorically against the Georgian conditions.

"At today's meeting, in still more detail than at the first round, we considered the conditions and demands of Georgia, moved in response to Russian's desire to win Georgia consent to Russia's accession to the WTO," Nikoloz Mchedlishvili, head of the press service of Prime Minister of Georgia, made his comments on the second round of talks.

The "Georgia Online" adds with reference to Mchedlishvili that the delegations failed to reach agreement during the second round of talks.

Along with that, as the "RBC" reports, the delegations of the parties have stated that they managed to establish a dialogue that needs to be continued.

The parties agreed not to disclose any further details.
