Round table discussion in Krasnodar on violations during State Duma elections

On December 10, the Krasnodar Club of Civil Education attached to the public organization "Creative Union "Southern Wave" jointly with the Association in Defense of Voters' Rights "GOLOS" and coalitions of public organizations of the Kuban region conducted the round table discussion "2003 Elections: Monitoring of Violations in Krasnodar Territory". MP candidates, election commission members of different levels, observers, and activists of public organizations were participants in the discussion.

The first report was given by Mikhail Veligorodsky, leader of GOLOS. He told about the most typical election violations and showed various leaflets the contents of which either were provocative or discredited candidates. The participants found with one accord that the main violation was the use of the so called administrative resource, which had been done with overt violations of the law sometimes. Observers and candidates' envoys reported on violations they had marked during the so called voting out of the polling station. Another round table discussion on the results of the December 7 elections is expected to be held in January.
