Human rights activists in Yekaterinburg protested against war in Chechnya

Activists of the Yekaterinburg Movement Against Violence and the Yekaterinburg Branch of the "International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of FSB - KGB" arranged an action on December 10, Human Rights Day. At the monument to the founders of the city, they mounted a stand informing of human rights abuses in Russia. The photo-exhibition "Face of the Second Chechen War" was a part of it. "War... War does not sort people by sex, age and nationality. Killed Russian commandos, dead Chechen gorillas, children, women and old people are on these photos. They all are victims of the war..." read an inscription on the stand.

  • Court releases Malgobek law enforcers accused of extortion

    Three policemen from Ingushetia, accused of using violence against a detainee and extortion, have been released. The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has explained that the period specified by law for the preliminary investigation had expired and their further detention is illegal.
