Ensemble from Karachay-Cherkessia wins international festival in Paris

The children's choreographic ensemble "Gloria" from Karachay-Cherkessia took the first place at the 4th International Festival in France "PARIS, JE T'AIME!" (I love you, Paris), the final round of which took place on March 24.

Besides, Estella Knukhova, a soloist of the "Gloria" took the second place in the contest of soloists.

The international contest attracted performers from choreographic, vocal and variety collectives from 50 regions of Russia and a number of European countries. The "Gloria" was the only group representing the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).

The "Gloria" performers acted in the elder age group in nomination of the "Variety Dance" with two choreographic presentations: dance "Lezginka-Hip-Hop" and Spanish dance "Chappa". Having won the first place in its nomination, the "Gloria" received the right to take part in the super-final of the International Contest "Salute of Talents" to be held in early June in St Petersburg.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
